Crazy title, I know. But hear me out here. Successful drug dealers are doing some things right.

As crazy as this is, they know good marketing and it's something we need to be doing in our businesses.

Crazy title, I know. But hear me out here. Successful drug dealers are doing some things right.

And yes, you will need to have a sense of humor listening to this podcast. I’m obviously being sarcastic with this analogy of drug dealers. In no way, shape or form, do I condone drug dealing.

Ok, that was my disclaimer for this show. Lets get started.

First, think about it, drug dealers do not try to sell their drugs to everyone. They pick their target market and avoid people that wouldn’t buy from them anyways. As business owners, we need to do the same. We need to figure out our target audience and then focus on those people to offer our services to.

Now think about this, lots of the shows you watch with drug dealers, what are they doing? Think about your last movie. They often let their customers sample a bit. And they become hooked and they keep coming back. Same thing you should be doing (minus the drugs of course), give folks stuff for free. If you are a coach or consultant, you can give away free resources like training or advice or guides. You can do PDFs or videos or Facebook lives. Give a taste for free and your target audience gets hooked. 

Another thing that drug dealers are good at is getting recurring business. They build relationships with their clients, they know their customers and what they want.

Soooooooo….. As crazy as this is, it’s good marketing.

You need to really understand your customer and in turn they need to know, like and trust you.

Now, on more of a serious note and lets get away from this drugdealer example.

When you start your business you need to pick your target audience, really understand them. Then you need to show yourself to your dream customers. Show up, give them free information or some kind of freebies about your service. Then once you get a customer in, you need to treat them like gold. That’s the only way they will buy from you again and tell their friends and family about you.

That’s it for today. Don’t do drugs, don’t sell drugs. Just kick some butt in your marketing.
